AYALA Online Academy is a platform with free video courses to help improve the skills of Kazakhstani doctors specializing in neonatology, pediatric resuscitation, neonatal pathology and nursing premature babies. The project is carried out by AYALA Charity Foundation through partnership with Chevron.
The platform will allow provide additional professional education to several thousand healthcare workers per year.
“Our Foundation has been working for 14 years to reduce infant and child mortality in Kazakhstan. Including through skills improvement training of domestic doctors,” notes Aidan Suleimenova, president of the AYALA Charity Foundation. “AYALA Online Academy is a transformation of our long-term offline project, which has helped save the lives of hundreds of young patients.”
According to Chevron representative Leila Aitmukhanova, “the global pandemic has shown the importance of education and self-education for healthcare workers, and also required major changes in the healthcare system around the world. We are very proud to be one of the first to restructure our social programs in Kazakhstan and implement many programs in the field of training medical personnel during the pandemic.”
Another goal of the project is to create the most comfortable conditions for training doctors, since each of them will be able to individually choose the time and program for advanced training.
2 video courses have already been posted on the platform: “Artificial ventilation” and “Administration of surfactants”. They haved been developed by medical practitioners of the highest category from Kazakhstan and Russia — Talgat Zhorabekovich Tolykbaev and Andrey Petrovich Averin.
The courses are divided into units which helps in mastering the material. After registration, access to lecture information is open for 2 months. Therefore, a course can be taken even at a workplace, listening to it in small fragments, returning to the record, if necessary. Presentation material is provided for each lecture. After completing the course, trainees have an opportunity to receive feedback from a lecturer by asking a clarifying question on air or in the chat. Control of the learned material in the form of a mandatory test after each block and at the end of the course is also provided for.
The AYALA Online Academy platform is supported by regular computers, smartphones and tablets and works wherever there is Internet access — fixed or mobile.
The AYALA Foundation plans to supplement the online academy with new courses in the field of neonatology and nursing of premature babies throughout the year. All courses will be fully dubbed into the Kazakh language.
