A video magnifier is an electronic magnifier that allows a visually impaired person to independently adjust the magnification of letters and images that is comfortable for him, by displaying them on the screen of a monitor, TV, smartphone or tablet. It can adjust the color and size of the text, increasing it smoothly.
A handheld video magnifier is needed for prolonged work with a computer and text. To work with a computer, a device in the form of a computer mouse is used. It can also be connected to a TV screen. By moving the mouse over the text, it can be enlarged to an easy-to-read size.
Magnifying glasses are needed so that children who do not have a computer can read books and recognize text written by hand and printed on a smartphone.
AYALA Foundation is raising funds to purchase 200 video magnifiers for visually impaired students of gymnasium school No. 10 in Nur-Sultan.
This is the only inclusive general educational institution in the capital, where since 2005 children with visual impairments and, since 2015, children with complete loss of vision can study together with other children.
In addition to video magnifiers these children also need notebooks and Braille pen.
