ZHARKENT MATERNITY HOSPITAL RECEIVED A FULL SET OF RESUSCITATION EQUIPMENT

01.10.2025

The Neonatal Care Unit in the Zharkent Maternity Hospital is fully equipped with up-to-date resuscitation equipment. The project to the amount of over KZT 143 million was implemented by the AYALA Charitable Foundation as part of the ‘Breath in Life’ Republican Program. It is expected to help reduce the early infant mortality rate in Zhetysu Region, which ranks third in the Republic in this indicator.

The Panfilov Multidisciplinary Interdistrict Hospital, where the maternity hospital is located, addressed the AYALA Foundation with a request for assistance in purchasing a large set of equipment to save the lives and health of newborns.

“About 3,000 babies are born in our area every year. About 100 infants require intensive care, i.e those born prematurely, with critically low weight, and with internal developmental defects. All of them are delivered to us, and they require special care and special equipment,» explains Aigerim Muratovna SURNAME, Acting Deputy Head of the Maternal and Child Health Department of the Panfilov Multidisciplinary Interdistrict Hospital.  “For example, premature infants must stay for many days, and sometimes weeks, in incubators, where conditions close to those in the womb in terms of temperature and humidity are maintained. Resuscitation tables are essential for our neonatologists to provide rapid assistance in emergency situations. Lung ventilation units and CPAP machines help maintain and restore respiratory function in newborns. We didn’t expect to get all the assistance we needed so quickly and fully. Many thanks to the AYALA Charitable Foundation for their attention to our needs.”

The Neonatal Care Unit received 22 units of medical equipment, including one lung ventilation unit, two CPAP machines, two incubators, three resuscitation tables, four patient monitors, and 10 phototherapy lamps, to the total amount of KZT 143.7 million.

«The AYALA Foundation’s main goal for 18 years has been to assist the country in reducing infant mortality and disability from birth by equipping state perinatal centres and maternity hospitals in Kazakhstan with resuscitation, diagnostic, and surgical equipment. By donating new medical equipment to doctors within the framework of the Breathe Life Project, we grant hundreds of families in the Panfilov District the happiness of raising healthy children emphasized Aidan Suleimenova, Founder and President of the AYALA Charitable Foundation.

Since 2007, the Foundation has donated over 1,300 units of medical equipment to state perinatal centres and maternity hospitals and is the only charitable organization in the country specializing in neonatology.

“Every newborn should have a chance at life, and modern resuscitation equipment plays a crucial role in this. Unfortunately, the government is not always able to promptly provide all maternity hospitals with the necessary medical equipment. Therefore, the support of charitable foundations becomes especially valuable. The Zhetysu Region is currently facing alarming infant mortality statistics, and I am confident that a fully equipped neonatal intensive care unit will allow the doctors at Panfilov Hospital to save even more little patients every day,» said Bekturgan Karin, Chief Supernumerary Neonatologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
