The first winners of the program to support gifted children -Zhas Kyran from Air Astana- spoke about their international achievements.
Owing to participation in the project, Arthur Kim, an 11th grade student at the Bilim-Innovation Lyceum from Aktobe, won a bronze medal at the 7th European Physics Olympiad in Hannover. “The trip to the Physics Olympiad was very important for me because it has provided me with valuable experience of participation in such serious competitions. I want to enter a prestigious university to make independent discoveries in science. Many thanks to Air Astana for helping me make my dream come true,” noted Arthur.
Matvey Rybalkin, an 11th grade student at school No. 54 from Almaty, took second place at the World Robotics Competition in Beijing. “I’ve been doing robotics for many years. And Air Astana helped me use a chance to perform at an international contest. Participation in international competitions allows to share experience in technical aspect. At the republican contests in Kazakhstan, I showed the best result, and my participation in Beijing gave me a merely tremendous experience, showed me the area for improvement and development in robotics,” said Matvey.
Diana Tynyshtyk, an 8th grade student at school No. 9 “Zerde” for gifted children from Astana, received the title of candidate for international master of sports at the 10th International Chess Festival in Prague. “In August, thanks to the Zhas Kyran project, I made a trip to the Czech Republic for 2 chess tournaments. Participation in them allowed me to rise to the rank of candidate for international master of sports. I also entered the top 20 strongest chess players of Kazakhstan. The trip filled me with incredible impressions of architecture, culture, communication with chess players from different countries, gave me sports experience and achievements, supported me in further professional development. Many thanks Air Astana for helping the talented children of Kazakhstan — you really gave us wings,” Diana shared her impressions.
Another 3 schoolchildren became the winners of travel grants and will take part in international contests at their discretion in the UK and the UAE until the end of this year.
“Zhas Kyran” is a travel grant program for gifted children of Kazakhstan from Air Astana. The airline provides 5 free return economy class air tickets every month for 1 child and 1 accompanying person for its international destinations. AYALA Foundation is part of the independent jury of this contest and helps to objectively and impartially determine the winner of the travel grant. Any citizen of Kazakhstan aged 7 to 17 years who has an official invitation to an international competition, contest or Olympiad can become a participant in the program. The selection is based on video applications, which can be sent to zhaskyran@airastana.com within 2 months before the planned trip.
