Two orthopedic doctors from the University Clinic No. 1 (formerly Aksai Children’s Hospital in Almaty), Makpal Surashova and Isamdun Kharamov, had practical training for two weeks in the orthopedics department of Busan National University Hospital.
Classes with Kazakhstani doctors were conducted by Professor Jung Sub Lee. He works as the head of the Spine Centre and the head of the orthopedics department of the BNUH. Professor Lee is the ambassador of the Ayala Foundation since October 2018 and provides numerous free consultations to Kazakhstani children with congenital and acquired orthopedic pathologies during his visits to our country at the invitation of the Foundation.
According to Isamdun Kharamov, for 2 weeks they worked very fruitfully with colleagues from South Korea. “We saw numerous and varied surgeries on the musculoskeletal system: on the spine, on the hip joint, micro-surgeries on the lower extremities, muscle transplants. Professor Lee’s meticulous, verbatim, and clear explanations greatly helped us absorb new knowledge. Many operations are also performed in Kazakhstan. This two-week practice will help us take them to a whole new level by introducing modern techniques that we learned at Busan National University Hospital. And I want to express my gratitude to the AYALA Foundation for this opportunity,” said Isamdun Kharamov.
We thank Chevron for their assistance in paying for flights and insurance for our Kazakhstani doctors.
