18 units of modern resuscitation equipment, including 2 incubators for intensive care of newborns with critically low body weight, 5 resuscitation tables, 6 phototherapy lamps and 5 high-precision medical scales were transferred to the Almaty Centre for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery by the AYALA Charity Foundation.
The project was implemented thanks to the sponsorship of Halyk Bank.
“This is a very important charity project, since we are talking about the health of babies, newborns of Kazakhstan — the future generation of our country,” said Dauren Sartaev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Halyk Bank. — Therefore, the Bank supported the initiative of the AYALA Foundation, which is our long-time partner on various socially significant projects. I would like to believe that thanks to this equipment and comprehensive support, the Centre’s specialists will provide timely, qualified assistance to children and provide a start in life for newly born babies.”
The Centre for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery in Almaty is the largest obstetric institution in the country. Every year 8-8.5 thousand births are delivered there, of which 12% are premature.
“Our Centre began operating in November 2011. However, after 10 years of operation, medical equipment has become obsolete, so it often breaks down, requiring constant expensive repairs. Many of the models we have installed have already been discontinued, which makes it difficult to purchase components. The shortage of equipment was especially acute in neonatal departments. Now, thanks to the support of Halyk Bank and the AYALA Foundation, almost all the needs of our neonatology department are covered. The combined power of care from doctors, large businesses and the Foundation will help save the lives and health of even more newborns,” noted Svetlana Aleksandrovna Lisogor, Deputy Director of the Centre for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery in Almaty.
The total cost of donated equipment was 27,003,750 tenge.
