At the Kovcheg Children and Family Support Centre, located in Talgar, a long-awaited upgrade of the kitchen facilities has taken place. The institution, which has become a home for 35 children with difficult life circumstances, has received new industrial equipment to replace appliances that had been in use for more than a quarter of a century.

A Foundation for a Stable Future
The history of Kovcheg began in the late 1990s as an initiative by volunteers who supported children in orphanages in Almaty. Today, it is a fully developed space where children are provided with conditions as close as possible to a home environment: from help with schoolwork to everyday family routines.

One of the key factors of stability for the children is high-quality and regular nutrition. However, the old kitchen equipment was no longer able to cope with the workload. Following the centre’s request to the AYALA Charity Foundation, the Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) responded to the need.

Results of the Modernisation
With the Foundation’s support, the Kovcheg kitchen has been equipped with a new gas stove, a modern oven, an industrial frying pan and upgraded work surfaces.

According to Igor Goncharov, Director of Business Development for Herbalife in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, the CASA Herbalife programme in Kazakhstan, as in other countries, exists thanks to donations from Independent Distributors, their initiative and their commitment to making the world around them better and kinder.

More Than Just Equipment
The upgrade was marked by a celebratory event: in March this year, Herbalife Independent Distributors, together with the brand’s culinary ambassador Kanimet Zhenishov, held a masterclass for the children.

“When we cook together with the children, we see how they become engaged in the process. It helps them feel that there are people in the world who are ready to be there for them,” said Igor Goncharov.

Previously, a similar modernisation under the Casa Herbalife programme was carried out at the Solnyshko centre. For children in difficult life situations, such predictability — a hot breakfast and dinner served on schedule — becomes the foundation for a calm and secure future.
