Samsung Electronics, with the support of AYALA Charity Foundation, has completed another academic year as part of the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) educational project. More than 150 school and university students from different regions of Kazakhstan had an opportunity to study the basics of programming in Python for free and dive in the world of big data analysis.
A key feature of this academic year was the expansion of the project geography: for the first time, offline classes were provided in Atyrau and Kostanay. The courses generated a high level of interest among students, which confirms relevance of this direction and demand for affordable IT education in the regions.
For several months, the participants completed homework assignments and took interim tests. The final exam has become a final stage of the course — based on the results, most of the students were awarded with certificates of successful completion. The top three students who achieved outstanding results were awarded branded gifts — Galaxy A smartphones and Samsung backpacks.
One of the finalists, Aruzhan Syzdykova, shared her impressions:
I am sincerely grateful to the team of Samsung Innovation Campus for the unique opportunity to complete a free Python programming course. It’s more than just a course — this is a really great contribution to the development of the younger generation, and I am extremely happy to become a part of it,» said Aruzhan, who had the best results in the exam.
She thinks that participation in the project has helped not only improve her technical skills, but also to believe in her own strength.
«Such initiatives inspire, give a chance to develop regardless of financial capabilities and to build a great future,» she added.
According to Samsung Electronics, Python and Big Data Basics course is not the only focus area. Free training in mobile development and Java is also ongoing. In the near future, the trainees will present their final projects on which they have been working on over the past few months. The projects are expected to be non-standard and to reflect a fresh and creative perspective of young people on digital solutions.
In addition, applications for the Solve For Tomorrow startup competition, another educational initiative of Samsung for schoolchildren striving to change the world through technology, are still accepted till the end of April. Many of the projects presented in past seasons of the competition have already attracted attention of potential investors and social partners.
Speaking about the project importance, the Founder and President of AYALA Charity Foundation Aidan Suleimenova noted:
«We have been cooperating with Samsung for 7 years in the framework of the Career Guidance project and are proud to be able to support initiatives such as Samsung Innovation Campus and Solve for Tomorrow. Free IT education for schoolchildren all over the country is a direct contribution to the intellectual potential and sustainable future of Kazakhstan. We believe that such projects help unlock the potential of young people, especially in regions where access to high-quality IT education is limited.»
