With the support of the SMALL supermarket chain, we donated 3 knitting machines, 3 sewing machines and an overlocker to the Threads of Goodness club They will help the organization’s volunteers sew yet more incubator blankets and knit even more tiny woolen hats, vests, socks, small plaids and octopies to help premature babies develop their lungs and breathe more actively!
The Threads of Goodness club brought together people of different ages and professions, united by their love for knitting and children. Magic fairies knit unique, tiny, and most importantly high-quality woolen sets with a prayer on their lips and love in every stitch. The kits consist of a small hat, a pair of socks, a vest and a therapeutic miracle octopy toy.
There are club volunteers in Almaty, Astana, Petropavlovsk, Shymkent, Zhezkazgan and Kurchatov. Their kits are received on an ongoing basis and given free of charge to premature newborn babies by Perinatal Centres in 9 cities.
According to Gulnisa Kulumzhanova, head of the Threads of Goodnessclub, last year alone 150 volunteers knitted and donated 2,800 kits, 1,425 octopies, 71 nests and 16 covers for humidicribs to the Neonatal Intensive Care and Pathology Departments. Since 2017, when the club, with the support of AYALA Foundation, began its activities, they have “dressed” 8,320 premature babies and given them 6,257 octopies.
Volunteers work in teams: some knit products made from 100% wool, the other, crocheted miracle octopies from 100% cotton. The demand for products for little bustlers has doubled, so the club needed help for purchasing knitting and sewing equipment.
We sincerely thank the director of Skif Trade LLP Maxim Ruslanovich Abdurazakov for supporting the Power of Caring for the little Kazakhstanis! We wish you and the entire SMALL team good health, prosperity and success in all your endeavors and projects!
