Forty Almaty veterans receive monthly support with food and medicine. Such assistance to elderly people during the period of self-isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic is provided by the AYALA Charity Foundation as part of a sponsorship project by Samsung.

This week, the veterans received help in the form of medicine. Last week, the Foundation organized the delivery of baskets, which included about 20 essential products and hygiene products. Contactless delivery was implemented by couriers directly to the doorstep of a house or apartment.

Фонд «АЯЛА» помогает ветеранам с 2010 года. In 2015, Samsung joined the Foundation’s initiative. Thanks to this, 67 veterans have already been connected to the project. Together with Samsung employees, the Foundation purchased food packages, packaged them in boxes, and then transported them all together on Gazelle trucks with loaders. Participants in the Great Patriotic War received such assistance every year on the eve of the Victory Day.

That was done until 2019. That year, after hearing a report on the results of the project, the president of Samsung decided that it was necessary to provide assistance to veterans more often.

This decision allowed to provide each of the 40 veterans with assistance in the amount of 30 thousand tenge monthly. At the same time, they themselves determine what needs to be purchased and report this to the project coordinators. Some of them only need groceries, others need household appliances: a vacuum cleaner, microwave, iron, etc. There may be a need for cleaning services. There are veterans who only need medicine, and there are those who need both food and medicine. All needs are entered into a special database, and on the basis of this general information, the purchase of everything necessary and targeted delivery are carried out. Coordinators visit veterans once a month to make sure that help arrives in a timely manner. And, of course, to socialize.
