GOOD PRACTICES: STORIES OF PEOPLE AND SOCIAL CHANGE

18.12.2025

The AYALA Foundation has been included in the DOS Community publication Good Practices: Stories of People and Social Change — a large-scale study of 25 impactful social initiatives implemented in Kazakhstan over the past five years. The collection brings together projects that not only provide support, but deliver measurable outcomes and transform people’s lives — from local communities to national programmes.

AYALA is represented by a case study on the launch of foetal surgery in Kazakhstan — a systemic project that has marked a new stage in the development of the country’s healthcare system.

Good Practices is a comprehensive research initiative and published collection of social projects in Kazakhstan, ranging from small community-based efforts to nationwide programmes, all of which generate measurable impact and drive real change in people’s lives.

Kazakhstan’s non-profit sector needs clear reference points: the ability to distinguish one-off success from sustainable results, and isolated initiatives from systemic models. Society requires trust and transparency, while business and the state need a clear and shared language of social impact and responsibility.

“The purpose of the collection is to identify and promote projects that make a meaningful contribution to addressing social challenges, demonstrate sustainability and can serve as models for others. With the support of Chevron, we have carried out important work: bringing together civic energy and research discipline, and creating a space of trust where it is possible to speak honestly about strengths as well as areas that still require improvement,” said Ainur Aimurzina, CEO of DOS Community.

The Good Practices collection brings together human stories and a rigorous selection methodology, ensuring that every page serves both as a source of inspiration and as a practical working tool. At the heart of the project is the individual — their dignity and measurable outcomes.

“We are proud that the project on launching foetal surgery, implemented by my foundation, was selected for the collection from more than 700 recommendations and applications. Each of the 25 case studies, including ours, was assessed against criteria such as proven effectiveness, social impact, managerial maturity and the presence of transparent procedures, the project’s reputation and public trust, media and social media coverage, potential for scaling and replication, and the level of public engagement in the initiative,” commented Aidan Suleimenova, Founder and President of the AYALA Foundation.

We extend our sincere thanks to the DOS Community team and to Chevron for their support and contribution to the development of a strong, professional and transparent non-profit sector in Kazakhstan. We are delighted to be part of this important project, which generates powerful momentum for growth and trust.
