The International Congress of the Fetal Medicine Foundation in the United Arab Emirates was held in Abu Dhabi. It was attended by Professor Kypros Nicolaides who is known worldwide as the «Father of Fetal Medicine», the Minister of State and Senior Executives of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, as well as 500 delegates from 14 countries.
AYALA Foundation organized participation of Ruslan Armiyevich Bilal, Neonatal Surgeon of the CF UMC «National Scientific Center for Motherhood and Childhood» (Astana), in this congress. At the Congress, the Foundation met with neonatal surgeons from Colombia, the Emirates, the United Kingdom, and Professor Kypros.
Prof. Nicolaides is known for revolutionizing fetal medicine through his extensive scientific research and advances in medical practice, from introduction of intrauterine blood transfusion for fetal anemia to performance of endoscopic laser surgery for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.
The congress is held to disseminate pioneering advances in fetal surgery. 22 physicians presented their reports on early screening for fetal malformations, preeclampsia screening, fetal growth problems, artificial placenta and fetal surgery, including data on advanced studies and complex fetal procedures.
Professor Kypros Nicolaides and other experts discussed new technologies and techniques aimed at improving fetal medicine practices and improving outcomes for mothers and unborn children in the region.
«The fact that every minute a woman dies due to complications of pregnancy and childbirth somewhere in the world is a driving force for me to continue our efforts for training in fetal surgery as many people as possible. I believe that we can reach a wider population from the UAE, especially in Africa and neighbouring regions, to achieve this goal of providing vital training to doctors and improving healthcare for people living in these regions,» Professor Nicolaides said.
AYALA Foundation assists the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the development of fetal surgery in Kazakhstan. With the support of the Foundation, this summer, doctors began to perform intrauterine procedures to correct development of the fetus for the first time in our country. The Foundation also helps to equip fetal surgery departments in Almaty at the Center for Perinatology and Pediatric Cardiac Surgery and in Astana on the basis of the National Scientific center of Motherhood and the Childhood.
The Congress created a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, collaboration and advanced ideas among healthcare professionals.
