Atyrau received the unique medical equipment.

The unique equipment for the therapy of newborns with severe respiratory disorders is successfully used in the Atyrau Regional Perinatal Center. Nitric oxide therapy device was delivered in the framework of the charitable project “Breathe Life” implemented in Atyrau region by AYALA Foundation and supported by Tengizchevroil.

Nitric oxide therapy saves the neonatal patients born with critical respiratory pathologies: acute pulmonary hypertension, congenital pneumonia and other severe conditions, previously resulted in death during the first hours and days after the birth. It is widely used in neonatal intensive care units in the USA, Japan and the European Union. Atyrau Regional Perinatal Center is one of seven perinatal centers in Kazakhstan with such equipment.

“Approach of AYALA Foundation for implementing the charitable medical projects is to provide the perinatal centers with long-lasting advanced medical technologies and equipment. Supported by Tengizchevroil, neonatologists in Atyrau have the possibility to use the highly-effective and internationally recognized therapy to save lives of their small patients successfully”, — said Aidan Suleymenova, the Founder and President of AYALA Foundation.     

The device, delivered by AYALA Foundation, is featured by generation of the ambient gas vital for newborns. GELIKA LLP, the device supplier to Kazakhstan, believes that this allows the center to save the budget significantly due to the consumables – cylinders and other materials. It means that the device will operate at any moment when it’s required by the doctors.

According to the Director of the Regional Perinatal Center Kazbek Yermagambetov, new equipment will save the lives of at least 25 newborns annually.

“Nitric oxide therapy device helps oxygenize the blood of newborns and ensure the viability of all important visceral organs, including the brain. The neonatal intensive care unit of the Regional Perinatal Center now has all equipment required for saving the lives of newborns with congenital respiratory pathologies. This is the essential contribution to the reduction of early neonatal death rate in the entire Atyrau region”, — emphasized Kazbek Aizharykovich.    

This project is not the first joint initiative of AYALA Charity Foundation and Tengizchevroil. Last year, supported by Tengizchevroil, the Regional Perinatal Center received the RetCam for the early diagnosis of vision pathologies in preterm infants. Doctors of this center will work in their own Neonatal Surgery Department by the end of this year due to the partnership with Tengizchevroil.
