Our Foundation continues to help hospitals and doctors in the fight against COVID-19!
This week, doctors at the branch of the Almaty City Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital received 1,162 complete sets of personal protective equipment (PPE). They were purchased with the sponsorship of Bayer in Kazakhstan.
Each set of PPE consists of an anti-plague suit, shoe covers, gloves, a respirator and goggles. It is disposable and provides maximum protection for doctors and medical personnel when in contact with a coronavirus patient.
Now that COVID-19 cases are again on the rise in Almaty, Bayer’s help is greatly needed. The staff of the branch of the City Clinical Infectious Desease Hospital named after I. S. Zhekenova employs 75 doctors, 100 nurses, as well as junior medical staff. They come into contact with hundreds of patients who are undergoing anti-Covid therapy on a daily basis. PPE supply will allow them to feel more protected and provide care to patients with confidence and calm.
“We strive to do everything we can to support healthcare workers in their difficult work. Donating PPE is our way of expressing gratitude and caring to them,” said Rob Fermelen, General Director of Bayer KAZ LLP.
The branch of the City Clinical Infectious Desease Hospital named after S. Zhekenova (CCIDH in Almaty is one of the main centres of the country’s largest megapolis with a specialization in the treatment of coronavirus infection. It is housed in a new modular building, which was erected in Almaty this spring and has a capacity of 280 beds.
